Hard to say : What is causing the limp without examining and more history. Could he have fallen and hurt himself causing a temporary limp? How long has it been? Is he a very active two year old always running into objects bruising himself repeatedly , falling and traumatizing himself making him to limp? Could be viral causes, too. Please take him to your doctor for evaluation and management

Xray: If it has been happening for a while then he may need an xray of his hips to make sure there is not a problem. Also a doctor;s exam to pinpoint where the pain is. A short term limp is not concerning, but a persistent limp needs to be evaluated.
