Unknown: Varicoceles (swollen spermatic veins) are fairly common. They can be associated with discomfort, shrinkage (or "atrophy") of the testicle on that side. In some men with infertility and varicocele, repair may improve subpar semen parameters and fertility. However, in the absence of the above conditions, varicoceles do not necessarily require repair, as they may not lead to those problems.
