It depends: I don't know what a peg of whiskey is. Generally in research one measures whiskey effects by ounces consumed. There are different proofs (concentrations of alcohol in whiskies) but in general less than 2 ounces a day is safe in men. One ounce or so in women. If one never drinks alcohol or mixes it etc. Even 2 ounces over a short period could plaster someone and render driving unsafe.
