About 1 year: The plate can be removed only when there is full healing and consolidation. Once the bone heals we also want it to remodel a bit to get stronger. By the time you are ready for the plate to be removed it is about 8 months to 1 year. Only remove the plate if you are having pain from the plate because with scar tissue there is a risk for nerve damage.
