Can be injured: A disc can be injured with a severe whiplash. More often its just a muscular soft tissue injury. Physical therapy with exercises!

Most often nothing: Whiplash injuries strain the neck tissues including the disc. These strains most often improve with time. Unfortunately, the time for improvement can sometimes be months to years. The injury can hasten the degeneration of discs. Surgery is seldom a good idea for patients with whiplash injuries.
