Different meds: Antihistamines (-h) are blocked by mainly the h1 receptor. These aren't in the brain, so a h1 blocker (aka: "non-sedating antihistamine" like zyrtec, allegra, claritin, (loratadine) etc.) don't act significantly in the brain. Older antihistamines block h1&h2, and some h2 in brain, so see some central effect--usually drowsiness.
