Joint or bone: One should differentiate myalgia/arthralgia from pathology/inflammatory disease as in osteomyelitis, septic or reactive arthritis such as lyme of jra. An er is appropriate if the child is acting quite sick; the office, if mildly ill.

Toxic synovitis: Your child may have developed toxic synovitis as a result of his virus. Toxic synovitis is caused when the synovial fluid surrounding the head of the bone causing difficulty in walking. Toxic synovitis is usually self limiting take him to the er for evaluation.
