Thyroid and meds: Amiodarone has a high iodine content and can make thyroid function erratic. Both steroids and beta blockers (end in -olol) prevent T4 to T3 (liothyronine) conversion. Estrogen and Progesterone can effect protein binding of thyroid hormone. Interferon can induce thyroid autoimmunity.
