It depends: Controlling the acute attack can be fast with colchicine, nsaids and/or corticosteroids. Controlling the underlying hyperuricemia can take a long time. Using benemid, allopurinol, uloric, Krystexxa (pegloticase) to control the total body urate pool can take a long time.
