A member asked:

Woke up this morning with numb lips. they weren't numb at first, but after i used the bathroom i noticed they were. gone in 2 mins. should i worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Most likely benign: Isolated lip numbness in the absence of other findings is not likely due to a serious cause. If both sides (rt and lt) are affected, this may be due to hyperventilation/anxiety, and maybe seen with low calcium or magnesium levels. If only one side is affected , it may be part of a transient ischemic attack or a migraine aura although these tend to be more extensive. If it recurs, tell your doctor.
