Trigger point.: It sounds like a trigger point, an area of the muscle that is in spasm and not getting enough blood circulating through it to get better. Take a plastic bag filled with ice (or a bag of frozen peas) wrapped in a cloth and place it on the spot for 10 minutes. Then wait 10 to 20 minutes and then do it again. When you remove the ice, you'll get increased circulation to the muscle.
