Can goods: If you can get fresh food-- it is better to get fresh food than can foods. You need to see what is inside the can food. How much sodium, any preservatives, other additives etc. Some imported can goods for instance may still contain msg, high in saturated fat etc and other stuffs that are not allowed in us. You really need to be careful and see the ingredients and know what they are.Fresh is better.

Tend to be salty: Life is a matter of weighing risks and benefits. Stuff that's canned does tend to have a lot of extra salt, and preparing the food well may remove most of this. The current hoopla over a can-chemical with slight estrogenic activities causing breast cancer will probably go the way of the completely-discredited "green" claims of the 1990's about synthetic environmental estrogens. My opinion.
