Monitor: Statins cause asymptomatic elevation in liver enzymes. Very rarely they can cause liver injury. It is not clear if the liver enzymes were elevated before the start of medicines. I suspect that fatty liver may be present causing liver enzyme elevations. Should be checked for other causes.

Talk to your doctor: Certain cholesterol medications called statins can cause elevations in liver enzymes. Slight elevations are safe, but if if they are very high, you may need to stop or change the medication. Your doctor can help determine if statins are appropriate for you.
