A member asked:

Nurse practitioner prescribed azithromycin and diflucan (fluconazole) for yeast infection. y this combo?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yeast Infection: Generally, Diflucan (fluconazole) is the drug of choice for a yeast infection. The Azithromycin was probably prescribed for another infection you might be fighting - such as bronchitis. With this drug, it is not uncommon to develop a yeast infection because of the bacteriocidal effects on your genitsl flora, so Diflucan (fluconazole) was prescribed to prevent a yeast infection from occurring.
