Underactive thyroid: Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid does not make enough thyroid hormone. The thyroid is located in the front of the neck. It controls metabolism and basically can affect any organs in the body. There are many causes for hypothyroidism and there are treatments available to treat it. It can be diagnosed through history, physical exam and lab testings. Any doctor can test for it.
