Several: Lichen planus often requires no biopsy. A topical glucocorticoid to alter the immune dysfunction that causes the pathology, or pricey tacrolimus. A retinoic acid derivative may also help. Lidocaine mouthwash for oral pain if it is there. Be checked for hepatitis c, know what chemical you meet at work and what rx's you take if applicable.

Treatment?: Doing a biopsy is not treatment, it is daignosis. Once you know what you have then it can be treated. Many time a steroid rinse is prescribed. Go see a periodontist or an oral surgeon.

May need to confirm: Oral surgeons and oral pathologists often require a biopsy to confirm diagnosis before recommending treatment (or lack thereof). While some lesions may be typical, others may not be. It's seldom a good idea to prescribe treatment without knowing for sure what a patient has. Typically patients are given a topical corticosteroid when necessary although many require nothing at all.
