Is my 35 year use of psyche meds contributing to my poor teeth? my dentist has made mention of this possibility. your thoughts?

Dry mouth: Reduced saliva is a common side effect of some psyche meds. Dry mouth or xerostomia can increase the risk of decay, gum disease and oral yeast infections. It's not just psyche meds, other meds can have this effect too. About 400 meds are listed.

Possibly: Many medications, not just "psyche meds", cause a decrease in the amount of saliva produced in the mouth. Saliva is our first line of natural defense against oral disease. Decreased saliva leads to increased tooth decay and other oral problems, such as gum disease, yeast infections, and dry mouth syndrome. Ask your dentist for guidance on how to combat the effects.
