Most likely bursitis: This needs evaluation but most of the time it is not arthritis but bursitis.

Consult with a doc: 2 years of hip pain is not likely to just be growing pains and does not sound normal for a healthy 18 year old. There are probably things that can be done, but first a diagnosis has to be made as to what is causing this. For that, you will need to start with an exam by your physician - they will determine if other tests need to be done. Two years is way too long - get help, and good luck.
