Many factors: Acceptable pressure depends on many factors including optic nerve appearance, visual field, retinal nerve fiber layer, corneal thickness, and family history. An experienced ophthalmologist can weigh all of these factors and come up with a target pressure for each patient and/ or eye.

Your target number: Every glaucoma patient has a unique target number that prevents further optic nerve damage. Usually this is about a 20-30% reduction from baseline. This number will be adjusted based on age and severity of the disease. You will be monitored to make sure you stay within your target range, and tested periodically to make sure you are not developing new damage. Don't miss your drops.
