Referred otalgia: Pain in the throat can be referred to the ear via arnold's nerve. This is called referred otalgia (ear pain). The way to treat this is to treat the underlying throat issue. If it is random.. It may be acid reflux. It could also be sinus drainage. If you have persistent/continuous sore throat and ear pain with a history of smoking - see your ENT for evaluation of your throat to rule out cancer.
