Leg Edema Swelling: There are many possible causes of leg swelling / leg edema including poor cirulcation of the veins (blood clots or valve dysfunction), kidney problems leading to fluid accumulation, heart problems such as congestive heart failure, or even liver dysfunction. I would suggest a visit with your primary doctor to arrange for lab work, ekg of the heart, and venous ultrasound of your legs.

Multiple thigs: The two most serious are heart failure (doubtful in your age group) and venous drainage obstruction. Obstruction can be due to a mass in the pelvis which compresses the veins draining the legs. An evaluation by a physician can sort this out.
