If it's jock itch: Both are caused by a fungal infection and the cream should cover most infecting agents. Check with your doctor to make sure the patch is indeed a fungal infection.

It's possible...: Try lotrimin (clotrimazole) ultra for a few days and if it seems to be getting better, just continue on. If not, see a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Not likely fungus: Fungus or ringworm is unusual on the penis. I would try 1% Hydrocortisone cream. Having said that, the anti-fungal cream might help simply because of the cream base, not necessarily the medication in it.
