Different: When you sleep with your mouth open, your teeth, gums and tongue and lips get very dry. She may be just trying to wet everything with saliva so her lips can slide over her teeth and not stick above them. It's dry mouth at night condition causes overgrowth of bacteria and therefore more gum disease and cavities. She needs to find out why she isn't breathing through her nose.

Nocturnal: Your friend is not abnormal. Many things happen while we are asleep and to those awake around us it might seem strange. The joy is first of all you are asleep and second you are unaware and can't remember the weird things you do. Just be glad your friend doesn't bite her friends in her sleep.
