See a psychiatrist: If bipolar disorder runs in your family, and you are having what you think are manic symptoms, see a psychiatrist as soon as you can. You can have your own evaluation to see what treatment you may need, if any. There are genetic linkages in bipolar disorder, but not everyone in a family will necessarily get sick. Get consistent sleep, stay away from alcohol/drugs, and take care of your health.

Maintain health: Genetic tendencies are simply that----tendencies. If you believe you have a tendency toward mania then you must diligently work to maintain your health. Proper sleep, proper nutrition, and proper exercise will go a long way to helping you to stay mentally and emotionally healthy.
