Wait until sitting: Breast milk or formula can provide all the needed nutrition for the first year. However, we have an expectation that kids will begin sitting at the table at a year & experiencing the culture of communal feeding.Introduction of solids is thus more cultural in timing than need. Waiting until 6 mo allows them to be sitting & a participant in the meal, rather than a passive victim of the process.
