Several possibilitie: There are several causes for receding gumline. One of the causes is that this may be related to gum disease. Other common causes can be from brushing the gums to hard, smokeless tobacco use, pulling from a fiber to attaches to the lips (frenum) or from teeth that are out of position. The white color that you see could be a sign of irritation. You should plan to see a dentist to determine the cause.

Bite or ortho: 2 main reasons for gum recession on 1 tooth are either previous orthodontic treatment or your bite. Have your dentist check/ evaluate.
