See below.: Cough and cold medicines have been proven in many good studies to be pretty unhelpful, and they can have nasty side effects. This is why the fda has finally started taking them off the market! if saline nose drops and suctioning aren't helping and the cough is consistently there, your baby's doctor should examine her and see if other testing is needed to find the cause of the cough.

Yes: Dust/smoke/perfumes/colds/etc.Lead to mucous build up deep in the lungs that must come out for baby to breathe effectively. The cough brings this junk up out of the lung. Supressing an infants cough can lead to complications. Avoid irritants in babies air/if you can smell it it can trigger cough. Air filters, humidifiers or vaporizers & generous saline nose wash are the best tools for infant cough.
