Unlikely: Gerd and esophageal candida are usually unrelated. Gerd means that acid is escaping the stomach and leaks up into the esophagus. Stomach acid generally kills the yeast in the esophagus that causes candida. If you have been taking antibiotics, steroids (prednisone), or other immunosuppressants, then this is likely the cause of the esophageal candida.
