Yes: It will often show it if you have one... The radiologist may not comment on it though. If they didn't mention it, have your doctor ask them to review the scan and check.

Possibly: Many hiatal hernias are, what we call, sliding. This means exactly that...they can slide up and down. A CT scan would definitely detect a hiatal hernia if it was present at the moment of imaging. However, if no hiatal hernia is seen, it does not necessarily mean you do not have one. If there is concern, there are other diagnostic tests that could be performed. Speak with your doc.

Maybe: It would definitely show a large hiatal hernia, also known as a paraesophageal hernia. It could miss a small hernia, but those are generally not clinically significant anyway. Check with whomever ordered to scan to find out more, or your primary care provider.
