Ointment doesn't: Allow the skin to " breathe" as much as creams do. Just keep the area clean & as dry as possible if it's red & " weepy" till you can take her to her pediatrician to see if it's a yeast infection or other cause, as a&d preparations are pretty innocuous. Zinc oxide paste is protective, but messy.

See the doctor: Without a description of the rash, it is hard to give you any advice on how to treat it. It is best that you have her see the doctor for a proper diagnosis.
