1-2 Months: Variables that affect recovery from hernia surgery include the method of repair (laparoscopic v. Open), the size of the hernia, & the condition of the patient. Of course, everyone is different: start slowly (walking on treadmill, elliptical, etc) and build it up from there. Best bet: check with your expert, your surgeon. Good luck!

Ask your surgeon: I tell my patients not to do anything strenuous for 4-6 weeks. That may be a bit long with the use of meshes. Your surgeon is aware of what type of procedure he/she did and is the one to tell you what to expect.
