1-2 Months: Variables that affect recovery from hernia surgery include the method of repair (laparoscopic v. Open), the size of the hernia, & the condition of the patient. Ask your surgeon: I tell my patients not to do anything strenuous for 4-6 weeks. That may be a bit long with the use of meshes. Your surgeon is aware of what type of procedure he/she did and is the one to tell you what to expect.
