Canker sores : Canker sores do recur. I am not sure how often you are getting them. There are specific anti viral cream that can be prescribed by your dentist or your pcp that can help you. You should definitely discuss the severity and recurrence of the sores with your doctor to figure out the underlying problems. I.E physical and or mental stress.

Can decrease course: If viral (hsv1), you may have noticed that you get a sensation before the sore actually breaks out. This is the time to apply the right medication to help decrease the severity of the sore. It can often shorten the course and make it much more manageable. If non viral, and the sore is present, a topical corticosteroid can help decrease the severity as well. See a dr for the right prescription.

Need to find cause: Your canker sores could be caused by vitamin deficiencies, herpes virus or other issues, you need to visit your dentist for a complete exam to find out the possible cause.
