A member asked:

My daughter has a red spot on the white of her eye, this appeared about 3 years ago, optometrist said its just a freckle shoul she get it removed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Most freckles on the whites of the eyes are brownish in color. Red spots could include minor vascular loops termed angiomas. Penetrating nerves through the whites look greyish black. Check with a pediatric ophthalmologist for an accurate diagnosis and the possibility (or need) for removal. This is not something optometrists have the background for.
