Some answers: Atherosclerosis with or without strokes, evolving tumors, medication reactions, trauma, blood clots or hematomas, cardiac events with secondary cerebral ischemia, carbon monoxide in poorly ventilated homes.

Many things.: Tumors, alcohol withdrawal, bleeding in head, old areas of scar, brain infections - including parasites, toxins, metabolic causes ( too little blood sugar) and of course unknown causes - epilepsy.
