Scoliosis: The time when scoliosis has the biggest chance for progression is during peak growth of puberty. This timing will vary from person to person, but by 18 i would suspect the majority of his growth is complete. An orthopedist or radiologist should be able to confirm this by looking at the growth plates on the x-ray.

Unlikely: Think of scoliosis as like what happens in the spring. Plants put out young growth rapidly & it has a weaker stem & may bend easily. Once the stem matures & becomes stronger, it won't. The same goes for the spine/scoliosis. The most likely period of progression is during early growth & spurt. Once the growth stops, things firm up. Many have minor degrees of scoliosis.
