Not normal: Certainly needs further work-up by pediatric cardiologist. Undiagnosed coarctation or Marfan syndrome are among the possibilities.

Not ususally: The aorta is the large artery that comes out of the heart and carries blood to the rest of the body and smaller arteries. Enlargement could be a normal variation or could be a problem that needs attention.. I agree with your doctor that you see cardiology to make sure this is not something to be concerned about.

Depends: How "enlarged" it is...Is there a concomitant aortic valve abnormality? Was this detected on chest x-ray? (often non specific). Echo & MRI & consult with a cardiologist should clarify all.
