A member asked:

Can taking lithium affect my ability to get pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Lithium does not interfere with your ability to get pregnant. Because lithium has been associated with increased risk of birth defects particularly when used in first trimester, it is important that women of child bearing age should use appropriate birth control while on lithium. Please talk with your doctor if you plan to be pregnant. Take care and good luck.
