Could taking celexa (citalopram) interfere with my ability to get pregnant?

Yes: But not in a direct way.Trying to get pregnant on antidepressants isn't a good idea. There are risks to the fetus. Being depressed can diminish the chance of getting pregnant. Celexa (citalopram) can cause loss of libido and hinder orgasm, furthur dimming prospects of pregnancy. On no meds, depressed and pregnant, research shows paradoxically, higher risks of the child later having mood disorders.

No: Simply stated, Celexa (citalopram) is an ssri, which, as an anti-depressant, helps to replenish serotonin in the brain. It does not interfere with conception.
