What allergy medication can someone with high blood pressure take?

Many options: Individuals with high blood pressure should avoid certain allergy medications containing pseudoephedrine or other "decongestants" as they can raise blood pressure. Plain Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) do not contain a decongestant and are thus safe to take with high blood pressure.

Avoid decongestants: Primarily, people with high blood pressure should avoid decongestants. Antihistamines such as Zyrtec, Claritin (loratadine), and Allegra should be fine. Just avoid the -D products.
