Many causes: The possibilities are many. Traumatic vs. Inflammatory causes are most likely. Have it evaluated by a physician.

Hard to say.: It could be a tendinitis altering your gait pattern. Or you could have a meniscus tear. See a sportsmedicine trained orthopedic surgeon for evaluation
