Stimulant Medication: Stimulant medications are often times the first medications used to treat individuals with adhd, assuming there is not a history of drug addiction. Concerta and Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) are the most common.

First adult adhd rx: Typically something that is fda approved for it. Stimulant medications (things that are either in the methylphenidate or amphetamine class) are usually first line. In some cases, patients will ask to be put on something that doesn't show up in a urine drug screen (because they don't want to explain it). In these cases, non-stimulants and "off label" strategies can be tried.
