Depends: There are many reasons why your doctor may want to do a ct scan of your chest. If you had a chest xray already and there was something abnormal, a chest ct is the next step to get a more detailed look at the abnormality. Alternatively, your doctor may want to look carefully at your heart, aorta or lungs based on something he/she discovered on your exam.
