Vocal cord paralysis: I am sure that your physician is evaluating you to find out the cause of this problem. Talk to your physician about this since you are concerned.

Laryngeal nerve: The nerve to the vocal cord loops from the brain down into the chest, and back up to the larynx. (For that reason, its name the recurrent laryngeal nerve.) Therefore, vocal cord paralysis sometimes is caused by problems in the chest. These are normal tests in this situation.
