Granulation Tissue?: Granulation tissue is a type of scar tissue which forms in wounds to allow for healing. It is composed of collagen, blood vessels, and immune cells that aid in healing. If excessive ("proud flesh") this may interfere with healing and require minor topical or surgical treatment.

Granulation Tissue: Granulation tissue is a beefy red wound bed that is rich in healing & immune defense factors. When wounds become infected and are opened for the infection to be physically removed, they are packed with wound care products that promote this tissue to grow and help in wound closure. The granulation tissue fights infection & contracts the wound shut over weeks - months depending on nutritional status.
