Anything other than: Anything other than bone is considered to be soft tissue. Usually one sees soft tissue edema or water swelling in the lower extremities especially when you press a finger into the skin, you leave an indent that goes away in a few minutes.

Swelling back head: Occipital (back of head) soft tissue edema just means 'swelling'. The possible causes are trauma (bump/bruise) or infection (cellulitis).
