TMJ: Clicking's from the jaw joint on the left side. A disc of cartilage is positioned between the top of the jaw bone (called the condyle) and the hollow area in the skull (called the glenoid fossa). This cartilage moves in synchronicity with the lower jaw. Clicking occurs when its timing is off or the disc is stuck in one position. If no pain, no jaw-locking opened or closed, do nothing.

Ear vs TMJ: ear clicking that occurs primarily with swallowing is the opening of the eustachian tube. "Ear" clicking that occurs with chewing is usually jaw joint - TMJ. If you have associated jaw symptoms, jaw pain, limited oral opening, that would suggest jaw causation. If it concerns you, see ENT doc first, if ear negative, ask your dentist.
