Not by itself: Deplin is l-methylfolate (folic acid) -- the active form of folate (folic acid) (methyltetrahydrofolate (folic acid), or mthf). This form can cross the blood-brain barrier, without having to be metabolized from the folate (folic acid) in your multivitamin or in food. It can be used to augment antidepressant effect, and in this way can help treatment-resistant depression. This can help depressed people who have mthf deficiencies.
