May not be arthritis: When hands swell at night we consider arthritis like rheumatoid - but there are many things to consider. If this is osteoarthritis you can wear isotonor gloves at night to decrease the swelling. It could be carpal tunnel - so try a wrist splints at night. Swelling could be edema but this needs to be clarified. Do the back of the hands pit, ie get an indentation when pushed.

Hands swell: often at night, making an underlying condition more symptomatic. Swelling is common as fluid in our bodies redistributes itself making out hands and face feel more swollen. The pain associated with that swelling can ber from a variety of common hand and wrist issues, such as arthritis, carpal tunnel and common tendinitis or tendinopathy such as dequervains and trigger fingers. see a hand surgeon
