Hand swelling: At the end of the day, your hands naturally swell. With swelling, more pressure can be placed on a suture line, which can cause increased pain. Keeping your hands elevated during the day can reduce the amount of swelling and, therefore, pain.

More swelling: Mist likely it is due to more swelling. Elevation on a pillow above the level of the heart may help. Use of longer lasting analgesics and anti-inflammatories may also be beneficial.
