I have had a productive cough for 2 weeks and i sometimes wheeze...i also smoke. is this simply from smoking or something more?

Need evaluation: A cough that lasts longer than 1 week needs evaluation, especially with wheezing in a person that smokes. Wheezing could be related to lung related causes like asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or even related to the heart.

Possibilities...: Possibilities include bronchospasm, acute bronchitis, gerd, post-nasal drip. The cough will worsen with ongoing inflammation from smoking so smoking cessation is vital. Treatment depends on diagnosis and your doctor can help with this. Good luck!
